So, after a lot of thinking and going back and forth, I am going to Vienna!!! I applied for the study abroad over Christmas and was accepted. Then when I came home for the summer, I didn't feel like I should go right now, so I canceled the trip. I was fine with that decision up until last week. I talked to a bunch of people and I contacted my professor and decided to go! I'm so excited. Now I'm trying to figure out how I can get enough money for the trip.
So it's a semester long Study Abroad - we leave on Aug 30 and come home Dec 13. How cool is that? During the course of the semester, we will be living in Vienna, Austria and taking various "side-trips." These trips include Salzburg, Venice, Florence, Prague, Budapest, and Bratislava. (*note: Vienna is in Austria; Venice is in Italy.... people tend to get these two confused*) I'll also be in Vienna for the beginning of the huge Christmas market! Woo Hoo!!!
Also, we will probably have an opportunity to go on a side trip at some point during the semester and I really wanted to go back to Ukraine. The problem with that comes when I add the fact that no one in the group speaks Ukrainian (not yet at least) and with places like Paris, Rome, and London, it's going to be hard to convince anyone else to go with me. My other thought was to go visit the LDS Temple in Frankfurt. Germany.
I'm minoring in German, so this will be an excellent chance to work on that. I'm not going to have a roommate while I'm there, and I requested a family that didn't speak English! (I'll find out later if that was one of my "not-quite-so-genius" moments or not.) It will also be so fun to see all of the architectural and design styles that I've been studying. I'll definitely be posting some great pictures once I get over there! Not quite 2 months left! : )

WOW! I am so thrilled that you are doing this! I am so excited and proud of you. I can't wait to hear all about it, and I will check your blog frequently for updates and pictures. Your life will be enriched by this experience; I wish I cold have spent a semester in Vienna! And all the side trips sound amazing! I think it is so cool you want to go back to Ukraine too~ it may be a bit cold there during the fall term... I think if I were in your group I too would opt for London or Paris~ don't tell Benj:) This is GREAT news Ally! You are making the right choice. Yeah!
